REVIEW: Inter-Professional Speed Networking – 14 November 2013

RTPI London Young Planners, in association with RICS London matrics and CIOB Novus London hosted an Inter-Professional Speed networking event on Thursday 14 November 2013. Over 60 built environment professionals made their way to the event, among them planners, surveyors, engineers, architects, plus representatives from sponsors The Oyster Partnership.

The Parcel Yard, a flagship pub located in the restored and Grade I listed parcel office at King’s Cross Station, provided the perfect venue for a night of stop-start hustle and bustle.

The evening kicked off at 7.00pm with a brief introduction from George Weeks and quickly followed with participants taking their seats on both sides of “the tracks”; “stay” and “move”. Whilst those on the “stay” side remained firmly positioned in their seats, on cue of the whistle, the “movers” had 4 minute intervals to exchange greetings and business cards before shifting onto the next person down the line.

A brief interval at 7.45pm allowed time to refuel with pork pies, sausage rolls and drinks before resuming the super speedy networking. The volume of chit-chat brought the former parcel office alive, and participants were well and truly talked out by the time we hurtled to  the finish line at 9.15pm, to be met with a second round of pies and sandwiches.

We hope all who attended enjoyed the evening as much as we did, and that no voices were lost in the process!

Last but not least, a big thank you to The Oyster Partnership for sponsoring the evening.
