Editorial position for the Young Planner pages in Planning Magazine

New editor wanted for Young Planners pages

After two years, Jamie Birtles, is set to pass on the editorship of the popular Young Planner pages.

“I have enjoyed my time as editor. It’s been both a challenge and extremely rewarding. I have learned a great deal and made many new contacts. The RTPI editors I have worked with, Victoria Clarke and Tino Hernandez, have been very helpful and always on hand to offer any support I have needed. A big thank you to everyone who has written articles” said Jamie.

The RTPI is now looking for a new young planner to take on this voluntary role from Jamie.

The young planners pages are published on a bi-monthly basis and contain information on forthcoming events, news reports, articles of contemporary relevance and occasional profiles of prominent young planners. A member of the RTPI and the young planners, you will have overall responsibility for the collation, editing and production of all content. You will help to communicate the wide-ranging activities of young planners across the Institute and will liaise with representatives in each of the regions. You will work to tight deadlines and liaise closely with the communications team at RTPI. The young planners pages do not print personal view articles.

To apply for the role please provide a brief career history, membership number, and outline in no more than 250 words why you think you would make a good editor. Candidates are also asked to give some examples of any changes you might want to make to the current pages. Please email Tino Hernandez (RTPI.News@rtpi.org.uk) by Friday 26 April. If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please feel free to contact Jamie Birtles (jamie.birtles@aecom.com).
