Young Planners Conference: Workshop 4: National Infrastructure Projects

This workshop was kindly hosted by Robbie Owen and Angus Walker from Bircham Dyson Bell. The session started by looking at the provisions of the Planning Act 2008 and the Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) regime, including the role of National Policy Statements (NPSs) and the Major Infrastructure Planning Unit of the Planning Inspectorate. The recent changes brought in by the Localism Act 2011 were also explored. Robbie and Angus took delegates through the pre-application, application, examination and decision process in an interactive session with discussion and Q&As from attendees. The session ended with consideration of further regime reform, including the recently publish Growth and Infrastructure Bill.

We would like to thank Robbie and Angus from our sponsors, Bircham Dyson Bell, for an insightful and engaging workshop for our young planners.
