Young Planners Conference: Tour 3: East London Infrastructure

This tour led by Andrew Dorrian of TfL and the London Young Planners Committee explored new infrastructure in Stratford around Stratford City, Stratford International station and the Olympic Park. Current and planned infrastructure enhancements were covered demonstrating that capacity is available for further development at Stratford and in the Lower Lea Valley. The tour visited the Royal Docks, and despite not being able to board the Emirates Air-line the planning and implementation of this piece of infrastructure as being a vital river crossing and as a catalyst for regeneration. An update on key developments in the Royals was provided to delegates in this vital opportunity area. The tour finished on the Greenwich Peninsula looking at the River Crossings consultation which has recently launched the O2 and associated developments on the Peninsula in line with the masterplan for this area.  This tour concluded that TfL is working to integrate transport into all major development areas and is implementing plans and strategies to enhance public transport provision to support development in these important growth areas.
