Meet RTPI President Colin Haylock

RTPI President Colin Haylock is visiting the London Region on the 3rd and 4th May and we are holding a series of events open to all members.

RTPI London has chosen the focus of the visit to be on London’s newest and most inspiring infrastructure and is seeking to arrange a series of presentations and tours of various sites from key parties about the issues involved and delivery.

The following events are taking place:

ImageEast London Infrastructure – City Airport, Crossrail and Cable Car

Thursday 3rd May – 10.15am to 3.30pm

Join us for a day of talks and a study tour where we will be learning about these exciting developments from the planners involved.

The event will include speakers from London City Airport, TfL and the GLA, and include a tour encompassing Crossrail and the Cable Car.

This event is available to RTPI members for just £15 (and non-members for £20). This event is open to all built environment professionals. Attendees will also be eligible for 10% discount on the RTPI London Wine Tasting Event at 6.30pm on the 3rd May.

ImageRTPI London Wine Tasting Evening  – 18:30pm – 20:30 onwards – 3 May 2012

“Life is too short to drink bad wine” – Vivat Bacchus

With this in mind RTPI London have organised a wine tasting evening with some of the most delicious and interesting South African wines. Our host will be the owner andsommelierof Vivat Bacchus Gerrie Knoetze, and what Gerrie doesn’t know about wine is not worth knowing!

You will be welcomed to the evening with a complimentary glass of champagne followed by an array of tapas boards and wines to taste and learn about. The evening will end with a few more glasses of wine and a chance to network with fellow colleagues and Colin Haylock, this year’s President of RTPI.

The cost of this evening event is £30 to members and £35 to non-members, places are limited and will be reserved on a first come first serve basis.

ImageRoyal Docks Enterprise Zone Study Tour

Friday 4th May 2012 – 2.00pm – Meet at Royal Albert DLR Station

125 ha of land around the Royal Docks was granted Enterprise Zone Status in 2011 and provides one of the most extensive waterfront regeneration sites in Europe.

Join planners from the GLA on a tour of the Royal Docks where we will be finding out about the projects coming forward in the area and how the Enterprise Zone is being implemented.The tour will commence on the eastbound platform at Pontoon Dock DLR station and move onto Royal Albert DLR station. The tour will cover the EZ and the Silvertown Quays site, the Royal Albert Dock site and the wider approach to the EZ.

The tour will be led by;

David Dye – Commercial Director, Royal Docks, GLA

Tom Jackson – Principal Development Officer, Land & Development, GLA

Tom Bridgman – Principal Policy Officer, Enterprise Zones, GLA

The tour will be followed by informal drinks at the Fox bar at Excel.
